Lake of Ice

It's been fucking cold in Juneau lately. I walked past the lake by my house this afternoon and noticed these fools standing on the surface.

I've never stood on a froze lake before. I guess you could call it one of those irrational fears of situations you will likely never face, but I've always been afraid of falling through thin ice. I've never even lived in a place where that was a likely circumstance. Too much Gary Paulsen as a child or something. Also this fucking movie didn't help.

Anyway, I decided to give my fears relevant, real-life context. I probably wouldn't die.

There's a lake under there, I swear.

No dying yet. I followed someone else's trail across the lake, I'm not a complete moron.

The light was fading by the time I returned to my starting point.
The curlers were still at it.

Because ALASKA
